Grossbritannien: Ubersicht der Gewasser [Great Britain: Canals and waterways] Generalstab des Heeres [German General Staff] Berlin: Abteilung fur Kriegskarten ..., 1940.
A large coloured map of Britain, 37 inches x 25 inches, 94 cms x 64 cms, folded as issued showing the Britain's canal and waterway network, being of obvious strategic importance as potential obstacles to the fast advance of the Panzers and supporting troops of any invasion force.
In very nice condition, without damage but with just a touch of occasional browning at the folds.
This scarce map, Sonderausgabe VII. 40 (Special Edition July 1940), was prepared by the German General Staff as part of their plans for Unternehmen Seelowe (Operation Sealion), the invasion of Britain by large-scale troop landings along the South Coast in 1940, subsequently aborted following the Battle of Britain.
This map is Map A-9 in the mil-angaben check-list of German WW2 invasion documents
