A report by the Combined [British/US] Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee (CIOS); July 1945
Report by CIOS on the German secret Natter vertical take-off aircraft intended for use against US high-level bombers on daylight raids.
CIOS 'Black List of targets for urgent investigation' category: Jet propulsion
Duplicated typewritten report in English, 10 x 7.5 inches, 25 x 19 cms. 14 pages, 2 sketches
Very good in original stapled card wrappers.
The Natter was one of Hitler's secret weapons that, although built and subjected to gliding and unmanned power flights, never saw action. Its sole piloted powered test flight resulted in the death of the pilot.
The intention was for the pilot to close with the target aircraft before jettisoning the nose-cone and firing 24 Henschel Hs 217 Fohn unguided rockets. The pilot would then turn away and parachute to safety.
