A 1940s WW2 German target identification bombing photo-document set
In the early 1940s, the German Luftwaffe planned a bombing campaign against British towns and cities, including Teignmouth.
To help Luftwaffe bomber aircrew identify their targets from the air during the raids on each town or city, the pilots and bomb-aimers were issued with an A4-size loose-leaf photo-document set containing a map and printed half-tone aerial photograph(s) of the general area to be attacked.
This original WW2 Luftwaffe set for air-raids on Teignmouth, found on a wartime Luftwaffe base, consists of:
2 sheets, 11 x 8 inches (30 cms x 21 cms), printed both sides. 3 pages of Luftwaffe map and photographs. 1 map, targets or other features marked in red. 1 full-page and 2 half-page aerial photographs, captioned in German.
An original WW2 Luftwaffe Teignmouth local history item
This photo-document set has great historical significance as one of the few surviving remnants of WW2 Luftwaffe activity over Britain and as an exceedingly scarce local history item.
Supplied with a modern leaflet containing more information on these German wartime air-raid documents.
